A man accused of seriously harming a four-month-old boy is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Not long after the Siksika Nation resident was charged with aggravated assault in relation to injuries sustained by a baby boy more than a year ago, he vanished.
"It's been very frustrating it's taken this long to get the investigation to court and now it will take even much longer to go through the system,” Gleichen RCMP Staff Sgt. James McLaren said Friday.
Kinsey Gordon Jerry, 27, was arrested on March 6 and later released. He was a no-show for a March 14 court appearance.
McLaren said the child was unconscious when emergency crews went to the Siksika Nation home near Gleichen, Alta., on Sept. 26, 2011.
He was airlifted to Alberta Children's Hospital with head trauma, then released into custody of child-welfare officials.
It is believed the accused is the child's father although police would not elaborate on the relationship between the man charged and child.
McLaren said the accused was not the only adult in the home at the time of the attack which, in part, presented a challenge in the investigation culminating to charges.
"We are happy we got the investigation this far," he said.
Jerry is a native man with black hair and brown eyes who stands at 5-foot-7 and weighs about 171 lbs.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call police at (403) 734-3056 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477.
