Documents show B.C. project was approved for Mandarin-only miners
By JEREMY NUTTALL, QMI Agency

VANCOUVER -- A partner in HD Mining was granted permission to bring in nearly 100 temporary foreign workers using documents listing Mandarin as a language requirement, a Freedom of Information Act request has revealed.

In the first half of 2012, Canadian Dehua Mines International received positive Labour Market Opinions (LMO), a prerequisite required by Service Canada. The approval from the government body allowed the company to use foreign workers for their Gething coal project near Hudson Hope in northeastern B.C.

The project is currently in the advanced exploratory phase.
