OTTAWA — Do you recognize this?

Andrew looked down at the tiny pewter boot in the stranger's hand, and doesn't remember anything that happened afterward.

It was around 6:20 p.m. Friday. Almost three months to the day after someone broke into his west-end home and stole $50 in cash and the urn containing his stillborn son Alex's remains.

The urn had been in the closet of the master bedroom, high on a shelf in a box of keepsakes, next to the urn of Andrew's late wife who died of cancer three years ago.

Andrew figures the thief was probably rummaging through the box of keepsakes, urn-in-hand, removed from its soft velvet bag when the sound of the garage door opening alerted him that the homeowner had returned.
