Two Canadians arrested in Cairo, Egypt, are receiving consular services, according to a friend of the pair.
"We have heard from Canadian consular services that they managed to visit Tarek Loubani and John Greyson in the Egyptian prison facility," York University Prof. Justin Podur tweeted.
"Tarek and John have both passed messages through consular services that they are OK. We still have no information about charges. Consular services will be seeing Tarek and John again (Monday)," tweeted Podur, who received a call Friday that the two were arrested.
A statement released by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development on Sunday said the Canadian Embassy in Cairo is in contact with local authorities and providing consular assistance.
