WINNIPEG — Peter Marino's beef with Canada Post has been resolved.
The Winnipeg senior was up in arms because his mail delivery service was interrupted because of an issue with a front step that's too high.
"We never cut his mail off, we just said there was an issue there that had to be rectified," Canada Post spokesman John Caines said from Ottawa on Monday. "The gentleman (Marino) moved his mailbox, so it's all over as far as we're concerned...there's no issue."
There was also an issue concerning an alleged threat against the postie, but that too has been put to bed.
Marino's mail carrier had filed a complaint that one of his front stairs is too high. At 14 inches, it's two inches higher than what Canada Post's guidelines deem acceptable. Marino, who had been receiving his mail for 32 years before that complaint, has moved his mailbox and plans to fix the step. He is relieved the controversy is over.
