TORONTO - TORONTO — A construction worker died after falling from a downtown Toronto condo building Friday.
A police officer at the scene said the man fell from the tower and landed on an adjacent building. The body was covered by an orange tarp.
Details were limited as police and the Ontario Ministry of Labour conduct their investigations.
The 78-storey Aura Condominium building is attached to a Bed Bath and Beyond and Marshall’s, and both stores remained open despite the death. The Aura will be Canada’s tallest condo once finished in 2014.
Toronto EMS confirmed that they responded at 12:35 p.m., and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Workers for the Canderel residential construction company, which is in charge of the project, refused to comment.
The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate.
