TORONTO - A three-year-old boy who died after being pulled from a North York pool was left unsupervised and without a floatation device.
The toddler — whose name is not being released by police — drowned in an indoor poor during a barbecue at a condo building at 120 Dallimore Circle in the Don Mills Rd.-Lawrence Ave. area just after 4 p.m. Saturday.
“There were a number of other children in the pool because it was a party,” Toronto Police Staff-Sgt. Jeff Taylor said Sunday. “Adults were around. The parent was around, but I guess, you turn your back for a second and that’s what happens.”
There were six or seven other kids using the pool at the time, and because it was a private pool in a condo complex, there was no lifeguard on duty, Taylor said.
A woman who came out from the bathroom noticed the boy under water and jumped in to save him.
