TORONTO -- The SIU is investigating the actions of a Peel Regional Police officer after an 80-year-old woman was Tasered and sent to hospital.
Three Peel Police officers responded to a call at the intersection of Thomas St. and Erin Mills Parkway in Streetsville at 3 a.m. Aug. 28th in what Sgt. Matt Small described as a “weapons dangerous” call.
Reports indicate an elderly woman was brandishing a knife and a Taser was used.
She was taken to hospital with a broken hip and is said to be in the Credit Valley Hospital recovering from surgery.
The unidentified woman, which sources say suffers from dementia, was not charged in the incident.
The SIU has named a subject officer and two witness officers.
