MONTREAL -- A 59-year-old woman crushed her 50-year-old partner under the wheels of a tractor-trailer Saturday night after the couple argued on the side of a highway west of Montreal, police said.
The man suffered serious injuries and died in hospital, provincial police spokesman Daniel Thibaudeau said.
Thibaudeau said the couple, from Nova Scotia, began arguing in their tractor-trailer Saturday night and decided to pull over on a highway in Coteau-du-Lac, Que., 60 km west of Montreal.
"The couple were outside the truck and the fighting continued," Thibaudeau said, adding that the woman got back in the truck and drove off without her partner.
"After driving only a few metres she noticed that (the 50-year-old man) was lying on the pavement. She stopped the truck and found the man crushed under the wheels," he said.
Police questioned the woman but have yet to decide if they will lay criminal charges against her.
