TORONTO - Emaciated Jeffrey Baldwin was starving to death while rotund James Mills admitted he did nothing to save the five-year-old, an inquest heard Monday.
Jury members examining the starvation death of Baldwin watched a videotaped police interview Mills gave to Det.-Consts. Kim O’Toole and Bernie MacDonald on Nov. 30, 2002, the day of the boy’s tragic death. Jeffrey weighed only 21 pounds.
Jeffrey’s grandparents Elva Bottineau and Norman Kidman are now serving life prison sentences after being convicted of second-degree murder in 2006.
The grandparents had custody of Jeffrey and his three siblings while Mills lived with his girlfriend, Yvette Kidman, Jeffrey’s mother, in the Woodfield Rd. home.
