The owner of a New Brunswick gym has issued a public apology to a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder who was denied entry with his service dog.
The apology, posted to Global Gym's Facebook page, comes after Kevin Berry, 30, went public with his plans to file a human rights complaint against the Moncton gym.
"Prior to this incident I will have to admit my knowledge of a service dog and (their) purpose was very little. However, over the last few days, I have learned so much about the purpose of these dogs and the important role they play in society," Darrin Gray wrote. "We look forward to working with any vet and their service dog. I intend to educate myself, my staff and my members to understand the role of service dogs for vets in our community."
Gray apologized to Berry and "all vets."
Berry told QMI Agency his German shepherd-Labrador retriever helps him cope with night terrors and relaxes him.
