Some might say Fred Ansems has grown something gourd-eous.
The Nova Scotia man is believed to have grown the world's longest gourd, the Annapolis Valley Giant Vegetable Growers Association says.
The 353.7 cm gourd has been registered with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, the authority on extreme veggies.
But the record comes with controversy. Another gourd holds the Guinness World Record. That gourd at the Beidaihe Jifa Agriculture Sightseeing Garden in Qinhuangdao, China, was a whole meter longer than Ansems', measuring 455 cm in 2008.
That gourd, however, was not registered with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth.
