LONDON, Ont. — The Egyptian government has thrown out any notion of justice in accusing a London doctor and Toronto filmmaker of murder, the doctor’s brother said Tuesday.
Mohammed Loubani, brother of Dr. Tarek Loubani, says Egyptian authorities have shown they will go to great lengths to trump up allegations against a pair of Canadians imprisoned in Cairo.
“Every time the Egyptian government opens its mouth and says these ridiculous things about Tarek and John (Greyson), we’re saddened by those statements, but in a way we’re hardened, because the more ridiculous things the Egyptian government says about the two of them, the more our case is made for us that there is no credible justice system in Egypt,” Mohammed Loubani said.
Media reports Tuesday claim hand-written allegations include murder.
“Who was murdered? When? How? Where? None of the things that you’d expect in a routine judicial process and the reason is because there are no specifics. It’s a political slur,” he said.
