EDMONTON — A candidate making a run for city council in Edmonton is hoping a little science fiction will make him stand out.

Jim Gibbon has made a handful of campaign signs written in Gallifreyan — a language that is spoken in a fictional planet in the long running hit British TV series Doctor Who.

In Gallifreyan, each sign translates to “Vote Gibbon Ward 5.”

“You need to take your time and see what the person (a candidate) is all about,” said Gibbon, who admits he is “a bit of a nerd.”
