OTTAWA – The RCMP allege Senator Patrick Brazeau committed breach of trust and fraud by claiming bogus living expenses, and investigators are seeking his bank records.

Brazeau had claimed a house in Maniwaki, Que., as his primary residence and collected more than $45,000 in housing expenses, as allowed by Senate policy if a primary residence is farther than 100 km away from Parliament Hill.

But of the 549 days for which Brazeau’s housing and expense claims were examined, he spent 57 nights at the address he declared as his primary residence, according to documents filed with the Federal Court Tuesday.
