SAINT-PHILIPPE, QUE. - He should have been in bed, but he was allegedly dodging the cops instead.
A 13-year-old boy could face criminal charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through a residential neighbourhood in southern Quebec at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers spotted a small SUV travelling over the speed limit in Saint-Philippe, about 30 minutes south of Montreal. The driver refused to stop when they tried to intercept the vehicle.
Police Lt. Jean-Marc Dube said a chase lasted "only a minute" but reached speeds of 100 km/h on residential streets.
The chase ended when the SUV careened off the road.
When police dragged the driver out of the vehicle, he turned out to be barely out of his pre-teens.
The SUV belonged to the boy's parents. It appears he had borrowed it without permission.
The boy could face charges under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
