CALGARY - It's a public kick in the rear, for which dad deserves a pat on the back.

Yes, there will be some who say Kevin is a rotten parent, shaming a precious snowflake of a child, and doing irreparable damage to a poor lad's fragile ego.

Those people couldn't be more wrong.

What the Airdrie, Alta., dad deserves is praise for caring enough to keep his young son on the straight and narrow, using every tool at his disposal to steer the 12-year-old away from a slippery slope of skipped classes and delinquency.

"I decided it was time to do some hardcore, old-school parenting, and snap him back on the right track," Kevin told QMI Agency, which has decided not to fully identify the family.

It was Tuesday when Kevin drew up the wanted-style poster with ATTENTION written in bold across the top, above two colour photographs of his son, a Grade 8 student.

"If you see this 12 yr. old boy between the hours of 8:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m (Mon-Fri) School days HE IS SKIPPING SCHOOL", reads the poster, which dad then posted in the places where his son is known to hang out, as well as on Facebook.

The poster asks anyone spotting the boy to call his dad, so he can be returned to class -- that is, unless the kid is up to no good.

"If you see him smoking or getting into mischief, call the police, they will be nicer to him than his mom & dad," the poster concludes.

It's like a breath of fresh air, in the midst of a nauseating stench of kid-glove parenting, where no child is ever wrong, and where teachers who give zeros or coaches who keep score are the villains responsible for trampling fragile feelings.
