EDMONTON - A city police officer is reminding parents to keep an eye on their kids this Halloween after he saw a known sex offender decorating his house for trick or treaters.

According to Edmonton city police Const. Dexx Williams, the home is located in central Edmonton. This particular offender is wearing an ankle bracelet and has conditions not to approach children.

But in this case, Williams said children will be coming to the offender, which is why police will be keeping a watchful eye — something parents should do with their children wherever they go on Halloween to make sure the fun festivities don’t turn into an opportunity for a predator.

“If their kids are going out by themselves, make sure you are reminding them not to go inside for candy,” said Williams.

“There are dangerous people out there who are waiting for an opportunity for children knocking on their door without a parent nearby.”

Williams sent the message out on Twitter.
