A 14-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with a toddler who was badly scalded in Oshawa a week ago.

Durham Regional Police say paramedics responded to a “medical assistance call” involving an injured two-year-old at an apartment complex around 10:30 a.m. last Sunday.

“It was determined by (emergency) responders the child had sustained injuries of a suspicious nature and police began an investigation,” police said in a statement released recently.

The tot was initially taken to a local hospital with injuries “consistent with scalding” that were thought to be serious but not life-threatening.
