TORONTO -- Two months after Const. John Zivcic spoke as the best man at his wedding, Tom Zivcic delivered a solemn eulogy for his brother -- a Toronto officer killed as a result of a car crash last week.

It's not how he imagined returning the "heartfelt, sincere, genuine" speech his brother had prepared for his nuptials, he said.

"Unfortunately, I won't have the opportunity to reciprocate that feeling back to him and speak at his wedding," Tom said, struggling to hold back his tears in front of a crowd of 7,000 mourners. "So I guess this has to be my best man's speech today."

Brother, friend, uncle, cop, and Good Samaritan: Const. John Zivcic was everything to those who loved him and worked alongside him.

Zivcic, 34, suffered severe head trauma when he collided with another vehicle while on his way to an impaired driving call.

He worked as a traffic officer with Toronto Police for the past six years.
