TORONTO ó Just a few councillors showed up for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's Christmas party at his mother's home Wednesday night.
The holiday party, which friends, councillors and their staff were invited to attend, ushered in over 50 people, including longtime family friend Coun. Gary Crawford and Coun. Frank Di Giorgio, the man Ford selected to be the city's budget chief.
"I wanted to say Merry Christmas to his wife, his mother and everyone in there," said Di Giorgio, who arrived shortly after 8:30 p.m. "I think some councillors aren't here because of the very short notice. I only heard about it (Tuesday). No politics."
