TORONTO — Embattled Mayor Rob Ford danced up a storm on the council floor Tuesday.
Ford was joined by several councillors who kicked up their heels to a performance by a local jazz trio who performed “One Love” and “Christmas Carol Blues” during the council meeting.
“Don’t sit, you need this,” singer Jay Douglas told councillors as they jumped up and danced.
Ford — who has been battling a crack-cocaine scandal for weeks and resisting calls to resign — threw his hands in the air and swayed along to the reggae song and got funky dancing to the Christmas song.
Speaker Frances Nunziata also got into the spirit of things, dancing and even doing the mashed potato at one point.
“Thank you very much, I had a great workout,” Nunziata said.
“People used to think we’re crazy now they think we’re really crazy,” Coun. Doug Ford said. “This is going worldwide.”
