A Nova Scotia family that lost everything in a fire last month and started over with the help of family, friends and charity lost many of its new belongings in a flood this week.
Jadesha Simmonds and her five children, who range in age from three to 12, were left stranded on Nov. 16 when a fire destroyed their North Preston home.
The Red Cross helped them with temporary lodgings, clothes and food, and local people and organizations helped them get back on their feet.
But on Tuesday, a pipe burst in their new Dartmouth apartment, destroying most of the new clothes, furniture and Christmas gifts.
The Red Cross put them up for the night, and they're now back in the apartment.
"Our involvement in this particular case is over at this point," Red Cross spokesman Dan Bedell said.
Still, the community is rallying around the Simmonds family once again.
"Family and friends in their home community of North Preston are also offering support including some fundraising to replace some of the items damaged or destroyed," Bedell said.
