A single winning lottery ticket will be a massive early Christmas present - a jackpot of $50 million.
The winning numbers for the Dec. 20 Lotto Max drawing were 2, 13, 18, 24, 27, 37, 43 and a bonus of 14. The lone winning ticket was sold in Edmonton.
Western Canada Lottery Corporation spokesperson Andrea Marantz told CTV the winner will not get the money by Christmas, “but knowing that it is coming must be a pretty nice feeling,”
While the official winner has yet to come forward, a handful of people on the Edmonton Sun Facebook page suggesting it could be a group of workers at Shell’s Scotford Manufacturing Centre.
In the Lotto Max maxmillions draw, 19 of a potential 50 $1 million winners were chosen.
Three of those were sold in Alberta, while 13 were sold in Ontario.
The jackpot follows the $40 million win of Tom Crist, a Calgary man who vowed to give all of the money to charity.
Crist started the foundation in 2012 after his wife Jan died of cancer and decided to put the winnings from his lottery subscription entirely to charity.
In April, a lottery ticket bought in Alberta was one of four winning tickets for the largest-ever Canadian jackpot of $63.4 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw.
The largest ever Albertan win was a draw on Oct. 26, 2005 for Lotto 6/49 which brought in $54,294,712.
