OTTAWA — Expect some RCMP heads to roll after environmental activists evaded detection and came precariously close to Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Vancouver, says a security expert.

The incident Monday is under review and will lead to new protocols to ensure the protective detail that follows Harper remains alert at all times and takes nothing for granted like canny protesters disguised as waiters wearing aprons.

Michel Juneau-Katsuya, a former Canadian Security and Intelligence Service chief who was part of the security detail when Prince Charles and Princess Diana visited Canada in 1983, said the RCMP let their guard down for split second.
