TORONTO - Toronto might have a new "sex partner" if a meeting between a city councillor and area strip club operators goes well.

Coun. Giorgio Mammoliti, who has championed the idea of creating a red-light district on Toronto Island, will attend a meeting with the Adult Entertainment Association Monday in Niagara-On-The-Lake. He's been invited to hear their pitch to become legal brothels after the Supreme Court ruled Canada's ban on brothels, communicating for the purpose of prostitution and living off its profits are unconstitutional.

"They will decide if they want to move forward with being so-called 'sex partners' with the City of Toronto," Mammoliti said. "It's worth our while listening to them.

If the plan goes ahead, Mammoliti said he would back off his idea, which he pitched in his 2010 mayoral campaign, to close massage parlours and brothels operating in all parts of Toronto and instead funnel prostitution into one place in the city, where it could be monitored by authorities.
