TORONTO — The Kitchener, Ont., man killed in a construction accident at a Mississauga mall was a married father of three.

Chris Crawford, 33, was working on an expansion of the Sheridan Centre on Monday when a steel structure collapsed trapping him.

Emergency personnel needed hours to extract Crawford, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is with profound sadness that we are dealing with the loss of our co-worker as a result of the tragic accident that occurred at the Sheridan Centre job site. Words are simply not enough, but our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children, family members and friends,” said Daryl Brisco, president of Vixman Construction, which Crawford was working for on the site.

“At this time it is impossible to determine the cause of the accident and it is completely inappropriate to provide speculation.”
