TORONTO -- Mayor Rob Ford was still lamenting Premier Kathleen Wynne's one-on-one meeting snub on Thursday - and he's now willing to settle for a text message.

Ford brought up Wynne's refusal to meet with him about financial aid for last month's ice storm during his weekly interview with a Washington, D.C., sports radio station.

"We're just trying to negotiate some funding from the province to deal with this ice storm," Ford told The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan. "We need, like, $171 million -- the province isn't playing ball so we'll see what happens.

"The premier doesn't want to meet with me, so it is pretty hard to get funding if you can't get a meeting set up. So a lot of politics is being played here."

One of The Sports Junkies asked if the premier didn't want to meet with Ford "because of all the controversy or because (she) doesn't want to give you the dough."

The mayor blamed party politics.

"She's a Liberal and I'm a Conservative and that's what it comes down to," Ford said. "She can spin it any way she wants, she wants to deal with the deputy mayor ... and he's a Liberal.
