Premier Kathleen Wynne says she’s “100%” supportive of an Ontario Public Service internship program available only to self-identified black females.

In Niagara Falls Friday, Wynne said people can be hired and promoted based both on merit and diversity goals.

“I don’t think that it’s an either/or,” she said. “We have to be very clear about hiring people on their merits and we have to have diverse and inclusive workplaces as we have diverse and inclusive schools.”

The Ontario Public Service has launched an Administrative Intership Pilot Program across three ministries this month for black female employees seeking promotion opportunities.
