WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says it will soon meet with the family of a woman who died shortly after being released from Grace Hospital, potentially the third post-discharge death from the hospital since the end of December.

“We have been in touch with a representative from the patient’s family, and are working to set up a meeting between the family and medical staff from the Grace to review the care received and the discharge plan undertaken,” Bronwyn Penner-Holigroski, a spokeswoman for the WRHA, wrote in an e-mail.

Dianne Vincent, 79, was reportedly treated for a brain hemorrhage on Dec. 30, then released two days later. But soon after flying home to Vancouver with a relative, her family reportedly said she suffered another hemorrhage, eventually dying on Jan. 18 in Vancouver.

The WRHA has not yet indicated if it is investigating the discharge process in this particular case.
