TORONTO -- Durham Regional Police are winding down the search for missing school teacher Jeffrey Boucher.

Det.-Sgt. Mitch Martin said Monday that officers searching for the 52-year-old Whitby jogger are stumped.

“I’ve been doing this type of work for a while and Mr. Boucher, quite simply, appears to have vanished.”

Boucher has not been seen since he went for what police believe was a morning jog last Monday. Investigators are not ruling out a number of possibilities, including suicide.

“Again we have no evidence to support that but it’s a possibility. That he’s run away is another possibility,” Martin said.

However, he added it’s unlikely that Boucher fell while running.

“I find it hard to believe he’s fallen down while running and we haven’t found him,” Martin said.
