Tom Marshall has been sworn in as Newfoundland and Labrador's newest premier.

Marshall became the province's 11th premier on Friday after highly unpopular Kathy Dunderdale announced her resignation on Wednesday.

On Monday, a member of the Progressive Conservative government crossed the floor to the Liberals after accusing the premier of having "lost touch" with the people.

Paul Lane also accused Dunderdale of being missing in action during several crises in the province, including the recent rolling blackouts.

Marshall was formerly the province's finance minister.
