Blowing snow, whiteout conditions and slick roads equalled one of the busiest weekends for the OPP.

Police say the latest storm that hit Ontario led to them responding to over 1,600 crashes, including three fatal and several personal injury collisions.

"During the course of these investigations, eight OPP cruisers were struck by passing motorists resulting in minor injuries to two police officers," the OPP said in a statement.

To date, OPP officers have ordered more than 60 road and highway closures across Ontario and helped over 400 stranded motorists seek shelter.

They warn that poor visibility and strong winds continue to make driving hazardous and are urging motorists to drive cautiously.
