TORONTO — There is such a thing as a free lunch if you end up waiting an hour for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford to show up.

The Economic Club of Canada announced Monday it is refunding the cost of tickets to last week’s lunch that eventually featured a speech from Ford.

The speech was delayed for about an hour after the mayor was trapped in a freight elevator at the Hilton hotel in Toronto as he tried to sneak past reporters waiting for him at the main entrance.

Around 190 people bought tickets to the $89-per-plate function but the delay prompted a handful of patrons to walk out.
