ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Police are looking for a driver who ran over a man on the QEW Monday night -- and might not even know it.

The impact happened after a Buick Allure crashed into a guard rail in the Buffalo-bound lanes in Niagara Falls just after 8 p.m. Monday, ejecting two male passengers.

Ontario Provincial Police say an unknown driver then ran over one of the men lying on the ground amid car bits and pieces.

“There’s debris as a result, all over the road. They may not have known it was a person they hit,” OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said.

The man who was run over died at the scene. The second male thrown from the car was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The female driver was taken to a Toronto hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

No ages or identities of the injured people were released Monday night and it’s not known where the occupants were from.
