OTTAWA — Health Canada officials are considering whether to approve use of an abortion pill that could be linked to several women's deaths, but the health minister has little to say about it.

Rona Ambrose's officials would only say such "decisions are made by Health Canada officials."

Ambrose's office didn't answer questions about the timing of a decision, or whether she has concerns about the safety of mifepristone, also known as RU-486.

Health Canada has been evaluating mifepristone since December 2012.
