TORONTO — A battle of “moral authority” pitted Toronto Coun. Doug Ford against the media and a handful of protesters who wanted to talk to Mayor Rob Ford on Tuesday.
Nine protesters, including children, held signs objecting to Ford’s drug use and lying.
Coun. Ford dismissed the protest when he arrived.
“There are thousands that love him too,” he told the group.
He said the Fords “could bring 1,000 mothers down in favour of Rob.”
Of the gathered, he said: “It is their democratic right ... I’m glad that they brought their children down even though they should be in school.”
Protester Jay MacGillivray said Ford was being disrespectful to the kids who came to protest.
