OTTAWA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper made fun of Justin Trudeau for the second consecutive day on Thursday, for the Liberal leader's earlier claim that the "budget will balance itself."
"Look, I think that statement says volumes," Harper said. "Every middle class family knows that a budget doesn't balance itself."
Trudeau responded to Harper after question period Thursday, saying he would "be happy to inform the prime minister that economic growth is the best way to support revenues for the government and prosperity in Canada."
Trudeau said his comments about the budget balancing itself referred to the idea that if the government focused on growing the economy, the increased revenue through taxation would lower the deficit.
