MONTREAL-- The Parti Quebecois government will present its budget next Thursday, and the guessing games have begun as to when Quebecers will be heading to the polls.

PQ strategists have narrowed the possible election days down to three dates. Premier Pauline Marois can hit the switch on February 26th, the week after she presents the budget, leading to an election on March 31.

She is more likely to wait until March 5 to call an election, giving the PQ more time to sell the benefits of the budget while the National Assembly is in recess. That scenario would lead to an election on April 7.

The third option would be to wait for the recess to end and call the election after the return of the MNAs on March 12.

In that scenario, an election would be held on April 14.
