Robert Becker may have one of the last autographs penned by hockey legend Tim Horton.

“I was at an auction in 1995 at a sports collectable show and I was just about to leave when I noticed they were putting out some old magazines ... I brought them home and skimmed through them but I didn’t notice the signatures for a while,” said Becker, 48, Staurday.

He discovered a Horton’s autograph in a copy of the old monthly Maple Leafs’ Hockey magazine dated Feb. 20, 1974.

Horton, who after a stellar career primarily with the Leafs was winding down his playing days with the Buffalo Sabers, played his last game on that night at Maple Leaf Gardens.

He died in a car wreck in St. Catharines early the next morning on his way home to the Buffalo area.

“My goodness, I realized this was his last day of hockey,” Becker said.

Becker had the signature authenticated by James Spence Authentication.
