OTTAWA - Transport Minister Lisa Raitt said she will soon talk with industry and local governments on ways to phase out the DOT 111 tankers cars, some of which crashed and exploded in flames in Lac-Megantic, Que., last summer.

Raitt said she'll also discuss methods to better classify flammable liquids that are being transported by rail as well as improvements to emergency response systems.

However, the NDP said the government has not done enough to address rail safety in Canada.
