Calling Friday a tragic day at its Edmonton distribution centre, Loblaws said it would "work to recover our team spirit."

Jayme Joshua Pasieka, 29, was taken into custody Friday after a brief manhunt sparked by the slaying of two people in a west-end warehouse.

Four more people were injured just after 2 p.m. at the Loblaws warehouse in an industrial zone.

Police say a man armed with two knives and wearing body armour had stormed into the building. Cops say he was an employee at the warehouse.

"We lost friends, others were injured and our entire team was shaken," Loblaws said in a statement Saturday. "We appreciate the swift response of the Edmonton police force and the courage of colleagues who assisted in the care and safety of our co-workers. Most of all, we honour our colleagues who were injured and killed. Our thoughts are with them and their families, and our team is forever saddened.

"Our facility will be closed as long as is appropriate so we can focus on those we lost and provide counseling to our colleagues. The wellbeing and safety of our team remains our priority."
