WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg Sears worker who was caught on video saying to a customer: "Lemme guess, you came off the boat?" has been fired.

The video was posted to YouTube on Monday, showing the argument between a customer and the employee of the store.

Comments posted on the site say the argument began after the employee had asked the customer to remove his child from a riding lawnmower.

The profanity-laced clip lasts about 1:25 and shows the customer lashing out and calling for the employee to be fired.

"That's racist, discrimination, and I want him fired," he says, before screaming obscenities at the employee.

A spokeswoman for Sears Canada said the company has investigated the incident and the employee involved in the incident has since been fired.

Alicia Richler said all employees must adhere to a code of conduct, and the employee broke that code.

"Obviously we apologize to everyone who witnessed it," she said. "This is something Sears takes very seriously and it is not tolerated."
