CALGARY -- Two snowshoers were buried under an avalanche near Lake Louise Saturday afternoon, but three others from the same party managed to escape uninjured.

According to Parks Canada, the avalanche came down at about 3 p.m. local time, while the three men and two women were at the bottom of a steep slope at Lake Agnes, just west of Lake Louise.

A man and a woman were caught in the avalanche.

One of the two people buried was dug out while help was on the way and the four were flown out, Parks Canada said.
