Could Rob Ford’s 2010 voters switch their allegiance to Olivia Chow this year?

Chow hopes so but rival Karen Stintz doubted one-time Ford voters looking for a new candidate in 2014 will elect an “NDP mayor.”

In Friday’s Toronto Sun, Chow penned an op-ed reaching out to readers who may have supported Ford in the past.

The former NDP MP and her campaign team are hopeful those who helped sweep Ford into office four years ago will end up supporting her candidacy now.

“I hope they would,” Chow told the Sun Thursday when asked if she thinks Ford voters could end up voting for her. “I offered a different vision, a different style of leadership and I hope they agree with my vision that we need to put children and families in the heart of our city.

“They work hard to earn a living and it is important that we come together to improve our city.”
