OTTAWA — Justin Trudeau wants to be prime minister and, according to plenty of polls in the last year, he stands a good chance of accomplishing that objective.

If he becomes PM, Trudeau has vowed to improve the lot of Canada's middle class.

But who is in Trudeau's middle class? Polls show we all think we're in the middle class but that's impossible. Only some of us are. Some of us have to be lower class and some upper class.

Figuring out where Trudeau draws the line will help us figure out what he might do as PM.

So this week, we asked Trudeau to define the middle class. We got some odd answers.

On Monday, we asked him what a middle class family in Canada might earn in a year.

"You want a figure?" he replied. Yes, please!

He didn't have a figure. Instead he said: "There are all sorts of different ways of calculating which decile or quintile constitutes the middle class.
