Get the beer ready — Prince Charles and Camilla are coming to Canada to celebrate May 2-4.

To the majority of Canadians, the Victoria long weekend is a time to mark the unofficial start of summer, but the holiday was created to celebrate the birth of Queen Victoria.

Charles and Camilla will stop first in Halifax, then Pictou, N.S., and Charlottetown, P.E.I., before jetting off and finishing their trip in Winnipeg.

The couple "will participate in several events and mark important anniversaries of historic significance to Canadians, including commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference in Prince Edward Island that led to Confederation," the release says.

They will also take part in the Grand Parade in Halifax and watch fireworks in Charlottetown. In Winnipeg, they will visit Assiniboine Park and the legislature.

The couple was last in Canada in May 2012. This will be the 17th time Prince Charles has toured the country, and the third tour for Camilla.
