OTTAWA -- A two-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a TV fell on top of him Sunday.

The boy is being treated at Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) for a life-threatening head injury.

The accident happened just after 8:30 a.m.and according to police, there were two kids involved -- a two-year-old and a three-year-old.

There were Easter eggs hidden around the home, but it's not known if the children were hunting for them at the time.

Their parents were home, but still asleep when their child was injured.

The TV, which police describe as a flat-screen model with a DVD player, fell after the two-year-old, named Jayce, appears to have tugged on the power cord.

The TV was on a dresser in the boy's bedroom.

Insp. Michel Marin said Ottawa police's sexual assault and child abuse section is leading the investigation, but they don't believe there is anything "untoward" about the circumstances.

"That's just protocol," he said. "We believe it to be an unfortunate incident, a tragic accident."

By mid-afternoon, Marin said the boy's condition was still considered critical.
