A nine-year-old Oakville boy who came within a breath of death's when he accidentally hung himself from a garage door earlier this week is expected to survive.

Halton Regional Police say the youngster, who they now identify only as Jack, is no longer in critical condition.

"We are very pleased to share that Jack is off life support and is expected to make a full recovery," police said in a statement Wednesday.

It's believed Jack used an external keypad to open the garage at his family's home on Pine Glen Rd. shortly after 7 p.m. Monday and then duck under the door while it was still opening to grab his bicycle.
