A Brampton house party — promoted heavily on social media — was shut down by police Friday night after more than 1,500 people showed up.

“The homeowner’s son had permission to have a party, but not of this magnitude,” Peel Regional Police Sgt. Darcy North said.

Police estimate the party, dubbed #ManionParty on Twitter, caused $70,000 in damage to the upscale house at 3 Stanley Carberry Cres., near Goreway Dr. and Mayfield Rd.

“One of the home’s occupants contacted police around 10:30 p.m. Things were clearly out of control,” North said.
